Matters arising in Maharashtra, Goa, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu are advised on from the New Delhi chambers and coordinated locally through correspondent counsel before the Bombay High Court and its subordinate courts.
The Bombay High Court, established in 1862, is one of India's oldest, and holds original civil jurisdiction — certain suits, including IP matters, can be filed directly on its original side rather than starting in a district court. Its principal seat is at Mumbai, with circuit benches at Nagpur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) in Maharashtra, and at Porvorim in Goa. Its jurisdiction extends over Maharashtra, Goa, and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
Bench allocation matters in practice as much as at Mumbai itself: the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar bench now handles a higher case volume than the principal Mumbai bench in some years, and there is an active, judicially-supported proposal to add a further bench at Kolhapur for western Maharashtra. Identifying which bench holds a matter's district is the first step before filing.
Mayach & Co. does not maintain an office in Maharashtra or Goa. Matters arising here — whether before the principal seat at Mumbai or the Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, or Goa benches — are advised on from the New Delhi chambers and coordinated through correspondent counsel local to the relevant bench, in the manner standard to Indian legal practice. See Matters Outside Delhi for how this works generally.
